It's that time again. The tree is covered in twinkly lights & all manner of handmade creations from our boys, we're "tracking Santa":http://www.noradsanta.org/ thanks to Norad, the "pavlova":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavlova_%28food%29 is cooked & waiting patiently to be filled with lashings of cream, berries & passionfruit on Christmas day, my children are getting feral with the overwhelming anticpation of opening presents, and I'm psyching myself up for the arrival of my Rellies (last minute plans, due to the flooding that seems to be covering most of my State)...... Christmas is here.
One thing that I adore about Christmas is the traditions. Pavlova has always been an essential Christmas food in my family, in fact I don't make it at any other time of the year. So too the plum pudding made from my Grandmothers recipe & wrapped (often disastrously) in fabric & boiled to death. I still haven't mastered the plum pud, it's my Dads forte.
One of our own traditions which has happened quite by accident & yet is so adored in our little family is the dance.
Every Christmas, just before the boys go to bed, we pull out the Christmas CD, scroll to track 15 & play - wait for it.... Mariah Carey "All I want for Christmas".
Our boys go nuts & dance & dance. The song usually needs quite a few repeats before they're so exhausted they fall into bed.
This year I thought you might like to see what it's all about.....
(I really can't explain why Jack is trying to do the Macarena.....)
